Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about Otvut.

How does login work on Otvut? (No password needed)
Otvut does not use traditional passwords. When you create your account, you choose a Backup Recovery Code (9 to 32 words). Your device is then permanently bound to your account as a Trusted Device and stored in our secure database. From then on, to log in you simply use your phone's passkey / biometric — no password, no OTP, no email link is required.
What is the Backup Recovery Code and why is it critical?
Your Backup Recovery Code is a phrase of 9 to 32 words that you set at signup. It is the master key to your account — the only way to prove ownership if you ever lose your trusted device.
⚠️ Critical warning: If you lose your phone and forget your Backup Recovery Code, your account cannot be recovered — ever. Otvut has no way to restore access. Please write your code down and store it safely offline.
I lost my phone. How do I add a new Trusted Device?
If you still remember your Backup Recovery Code, you can register a new device:
  • Open Otvut on your new device and choose "Add as Trusted Device"
  • Enter your Username
  • Enter your Backup Recovery Code
  • Enter your new device passkey (5 digits)
After submission, the new device is verified within 12 hours and becomes your trusted device. No old phone required.
What is the Master PIN and what does it protect?
The Master PIN is a high-security lock that can protect any feature on Otvut — not just notes. You can enable it to lock your:
  • Notes & private notes
  • Messages and chats
  • Wallet, earnings & payouts
  • Account settings
  • Even the login screen itself (Lock Login)
For maximum security, setting up or changing your Master PIN must be done from your verified Master Smartphone Device with biometric / passkey verification. Once set, you can use it from any device to unlock protected features.
How do I permanently delete my Otvut account?
Account deletion is intentionally strict to protect you from unauthorized deletion. To delete your account you must provide:
  • Your Username
  • Your Backup Recovery Code
  • Your current device passkey (5 digits)
Without all three, the account cannot be deleted — this prevents malicious actors from erasing your account even if they steal your phone. Once all checks pass, your data and content are permanently removed.
How can I earn on Otvut?
Otvut's primary income source for creators is content monetization — your posts, articles, videos, courses and paid content generate earnings. Additional earning channels include:
  • Content Monetization (main source) — earn from reactions, views, subscriptions and paid content
  • Referral Income — earn by inviting new users through your referral link
  • Storage Rental — Otvut is a distributed social network, so you can rent your unused storage to the network and earn
All content must be original. Copied or republished content will not be monetized.
How do I report a violating post or user?
Click the three-dot menu on any post or profile and select "Report". You can also email us at report@otvut.com with the post/profile link and a description of the issue. Our moderation team reviews all reports within 24 hours.
When can I withdraw my earnings?
Withdrawal availability depends on your verified account status, minimum payout threshold and supported payout methods in your region. Please contact support from your account's registered email for the current payout schedule in your country.
