Putra Mosque is the main mosque in Malaysia. Construction of the mosque began in 1997 and was completed two years later.
Putra Mosque is located in Putra Square and adjacent to the artificial Putrajaya Lake.
The pink-domed Putra Mosque is built of pink granite and has three main functional areas - a prayer hall, a courtyard, and various educational facilities and function rooms. The mosque can accommodate 15,000 worshippers at any one time.
On June 25, 1999, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad went to the Putra Mosque for prayers.
