Introduction
The Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque— widely known as the Blue Mosque — is one of Malaysia’s most iconic Islamic architectural masterpieces. Located in Shah Alam, Selangor, it stands as the state mosque and one of the largest mosques in Southeast Asia. Its magnificent blue-and-silver dome and four towering minarets make it one of the most photographed landmarks in Malaysia.
History
Construction of the mosque began in 1982 and was completed on 11 March 1988.
The mosque was commissioned during the reign of the late Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz, after whom it is named. Over the years, the Blue Mosque has gained global recognition for its unique Islamic design, size, and cultural significance.
