How to clean the commode water tank
Although we clean the commode regularly, we do not clean its water tank or cistern properly. This can lead to water accumulation, odor, stains, and bacteria. There are a few very simple ways to clean this tank.
- First, turn off the water valve in the commode cistern. Then flush out all the water inside. This will expose the inside for cleaning.
- Pour 1 cup of white vinegar into the tank. This will help remove water stains and dirt. Vinegar also acts as a disinfectant.
- Then sprinkle half a cup of baking soda into the cistern. It will react with the vinegar to create a foam that will easily remove stains and germs.
- Wait about five minutes and then scrub the inside walls and components with a toilet brush or old toothbrush to remove any dirt. Pay extra attention to areas with heavy stains.
- Finally, rinse the tank thoroughly with hot water. If you want, you can flush it once to get all the dirt out thoroughly.
Know that
you can also use toilet cleaner to clean the tank if you want. Cleaning it at least once a month will keep the commode's water tank sparkling.
