Is the kitchen sink pipe clogged? Find out 4 ways to fix it

While cooking, you suddenly notice that the sink pipe is clogged and water is overflowing. Such a situation can be a real headache. Cooking and other tasks come to a standstill. The sink pipe can become clogged due to careless dropping of things like oil and fat, egg shells, pieces of meat or hair. If the sink pipe is clogged, you can open it by following some simple tips. Know 4 tips.

  1. Boiling water can easily unclog a kitchen sink. First, boil water in a kettle or pot. Then carefully pour it down the drain in two or three passes. The hot water helps to remove oil, grease, soap scum, and other dirt that can clog pipes.
  2. A combination of baking soda and vinegar is quite effective for unclogging sink pipes. Pour about half a cup of baking soda down the drain. Then pour an equal amount of vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, then pour in hot water. Repeat if necessary.
  3. You can use the power of a good old-fashioned plunger to clear out clogged pipes. Make sure there is enough water in the sink to cover the rubber part of the plunger. Place the plunger over the drain and pump it up and down a few times.
  4. Use this method as a last resort and with caution. Caustic soda, also known as sodium hydroxide, is a powerful chemical that can dissolve organic matter like grease and hair. It can cause skin and pipe damage if not used properly. To use caustic soda, mix it with water according to the manufacturer's instructions. Then carefully pour it down the drain. Wait the prescribed amount of time before flushing with hot water. Be sure to wear protective gloves and goggles while doing this, and don't use this method too frequently.
