what are the reasons for breaking the fast

Fasting is an important obligatory act of the holy month of Ramadan. Therefore, after fasting, one must be careful not to do anything that breaks the fast. First and most commonly, there are three reasons why the fast is broken. They are - eating, drinking, and sexual intercourse.
However, apart from these, there are some other reasons why the fast is broken. It is important for every fasting person to know about them. In short, those reasons are:
1. Eating or drinking by mistake and thinking that the fast has been broken, then eating or drinking again intentionally. (Fatawa Shami, Volume: 03, Page: 375)
2. Smoking bidi-cigarettes or hookah. (Jawahirul Fiqh, Volume: 01, Page: 378)
3. Eating raw rice, yeast dough, or a lot of salt together. (Fatawa al-Hindiyya, Volume: 01, Page: 199)
4. Eating something that is not normally eaten. Such as wood, iron, paper, stone, clay, coal, etc. (Fatawa al-Hindiyya, Vol. 01, Page 202; Jawahirul Fiqh, Vol. 01, Page 378)
5. Swallowing stones, clay, pebbles, cotton, grass, straw and paper. (Fatawa al-Hindiyya, Vol. 1, Page 203)
6. If you swallow your own spit. (Fatawa al-Hindiyya, Volume: 01, Page: 202)
7. Having sexual intercourse with his wife again, thinking that his fast has been broken after he has accidentally had sexual intercourse with her. (Fatawa Shami, Vol. 3, Page 375)
8. Giving liquid medicine through the ear or nostril. (Imdadul Fatawa, Volume: 02, Page: 127)

15. Intentionally vomiting or swallowing after vomiting. (Fathul Qadir, Volume: 02, Page: 337)
16. Breaking the fast during the day, thinking that the sun has set. (Bukhari, Hadith: 1959)
17. If a man has sexual intercourse with his wife at night, thinking it is night, and then finds out about the morning, he immediately stops having sexual intercourse. (Fatawa Shami, Volume: 03, Page: 374)
18. If rain or ice particles enter the esophagus, the fast is broken. (Fatawa Hindiyyah, Vol. 01, Page: 203)
